The latest Inka sites built around 1520... 18 miles or 32 km ,is the
total hike... where you can appreciate beautiful indigenous flora
and fauna , spectacular sites walking through one the most remotes
area in the planet.
Choqeqiraw means the bed place of gold or golden bed ... The site
where the Inkas fought their conquerors....
Day 01
We leave Cusco , on the way to Choqueqiraw we stop at Killarumiyoc
, Tarawasi and Saywite ... later on we arrive to campsite located
at Cachora village. Camp 1 lunch and dinner included. L+D
Day 02
Early in the morning we start walking or riding horses towards Capulichayoc
or Capulniyoc for 3 hours aprox. spectacular views over the Vilcabamba
range ... we face the great valley of the Apurimac below (highly recommended
not to hike horses in dangerous places) you will pass through Cocamasana
and Chiquisca before reaching our camp site at Playa Rosalina near
to the Apurimac river...19 kilometres or 11.05 miles walking day distance.
Highest place 3200 mts 11.000 feet descending 1k or 3000 feet more
or less. B+L+D
Day 03
Wake up early freshen up ...we walk for +- 2 hours before reaching
Santa Rosa place of rest where they prepare wild cane
alcohol (cañazo) ...later we continue up hill to maranpata
(3 hours aprox) , exquisite views of the canyon of the Apurimac river
and the mountains including Choqueqiraw. We camp at Maranpata site.
12 k or 7 1/2 miles reaching 3750 m or 12000 feet .. so we climb close
to 1400 m. or 4400 feet. B+L+D
Day 04
Early walk to Choqueqiraw for about (2 hours) then full exploration
of the site ... visiting the temples dedicated to the sun , moon and
natural phenomena... exploring the area all day... Returning at the
end of the day to Maranpata camp site.
Day 05
We will start our return trip to Santa Rosa way down ... all trip
is downhill so protect your knees. Camping at the Apurimac river Rosalina
camp site. B+L+D.
Day 06
Early morning depart uphill towards the pass of Capulichayoc then
the flat site back to Cachora where our transportation wait for us
to come back to Cusco .B+L. |
